Discipling with Joy

We love seeing many Japanese and foreigners discipled and growing in their faith in God. It’s a joy. Jesus thinks so too!

(Luke 10:21) At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

(Message Bible) At that, Jesus rejoiced, exuberant in the Holy Spirit. “I thank you, Father, Master of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the know-it-alls and showed them to these innocent newcomers. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way

Key thought:-Discipling is a joy-filled relationship with Jesus.

Some people don’t see the joy and rewards in discipling. They might think of a negative example or see only hard work involved in it.

However I’m sure we can all think of a great teacher, coach or christian leader who has sown great things into our lives. These good teachers were more than good teachers. They became models for us to emulate. They brought joy into the learning experience. They helped us grow at a faster rate. They helped us to love what we were learning.

These were in effect ‘disciplers’ in our lives.

Key thought:- Jesus is filled with joy when we grow in discipleship

Jesus is the greatest discipler. He causes growth in us as we allow him. He is always on the job training us as we read his Words and follow him. And he is full of joy as we grow and ‘report in’ through prayer and thanksgiving. Yes, He ‘rejoiced, exuberant in the Holy Spirit’ as it says in the Message Bible.

Key Thought:- Jesus loved the fact that discipleship was easy and fruitful.

He rejoiced that many wise educated people missed it due to their pride. Yet any child-like, open, hungry person could get it. God would bring much new and wonderful revelation to anyone who is hungry for more. It is easy!

Also, the disciples were able to help others by praying for healing and sharing good news. Others were blessed and healed. And this fruitfulness brings joy to us too.

Prayer:-

Lord Jesus, I want to be a disciple (constant learner) of Jesus. I want to help others and be fruitful. I want to bring more joy to your heart.

New Government in Japan - Pray for PM Hatoyama 日本の新政権誕生―鳩山総理のための祈り

We have a new PM in Japan. The 4th Prime Minister in about 4 years.
Yet Japan has seen a change in government only twice since WWII.
So this is a significant moment of change. 　People are expecting a change for the better.
日本で新しい内閣総理大臣が立ち上がった。なんとこの４年間で、４人目の総理大臣となる。しかし、日本では第二次世界大戦以降これがまだ２度目の政権交代である。日本にとってはまさに大きな変革の時を迎えたのだ。国民はより良くなることを願い、そしてこの変化に期待を高めている。

Let’s pray for Mr. Hatoyama and the new government. Let’s pray for Japan.
I believe a lot of things are changing in Japan right now. This is a great opportunity for many churches in Japan to also change and move into growth.

新しい鳩山総理と新政権のために祈ろう！
日本の国のために祈ろう。今、日本で様々なことが変わろうとしていると確信している。そしてこの動きは日本の教会にとっても、変化しそして成長していく素晴らしいチャンスだと考えている。

How exciting to be living here in such a time as this!
この様な時代にこの国に生きられることは、なんてエキサイティングだろう！

You gotta’ love Osaka - everyone does. A city of youth, bright lights, trendy cafes and one of the coolest new churches in the world!
大阪は最高！ーみんな大阪が好きだ。若者の街、明るい街のライト、トレンディーなカフェ、そして世界の中でも新しくクールな教会がある都市。

Osaka Lifehouse is about 18mths old now. We have 16 team members and another 16 rising Japanese leaders.
大阪ライフハウスが誕生して約１８か月になる。今、１６人のチームメンバーと１６人の日本人のリーダー達が支えている。

25 Lifegroups and growing.
２５つのライフ・グループ、そしてまだまだ増え続けている。

Need a new venue after growing out of the current excellent livehouse.
この素晴らしいライフハウスにも、その成長に合わせて今、新しい礼拝場所が必要になっている。

Osaka, along with connected cities of Kobe and Kyoto have 20 million people, and so few have heard about Jesus.
大阪、近隣の神戸や京都を含むこの３大都市には約2千万にもの人々が住む。だがイエスのことを聞いたことがあるのは、ほんの一握りの人達だけなのだ。

We are living in history - the rise of new churches in Japan.
今、私達は歴史的な時代にいるーそれは日本で新しい教会が立上がっていく時なのだ。

Why are so few Japanese christians? なぜ日本にはクリスチャンが少ないのか？

Out of 127 million people, only about 200,000 regularly go to a protestant church. The average size church is 35 and attendance about 25 on an average Sunday. Many of these wonderful Christians came to know Jesus at an early age just after WWII. Most are now elderly people. Without new growth the Japanese church will actually go backwards.
人口約1億2千７００万人。そのうち、プロテスタント系の教会に通っている人達は２０万人である。日本にある教会の平均規模は３５人、そして毎週日曜日に教会に通っているのは２５人だと言われている。そしてその素晴らしいクリスチャン達のほとんどが、第二次世界大戦後にイエスを知った、シニア世代である。成長がなくては、日本の教会は後退していくだろう。

Many people ask ‘what’s wrong with Japanese people ? Why aren’t they open to God.?’ This is actually a very important question. If we give the wrong answer there is no solution to the problem. But if we get the right answer, we can actually do something about it
多くの人達が日本人の一体「何」が問題なんだろう？どうして彼らは神様に対してオープンでないのか？と問いかける。これは実は重要な質問である。もし間違って答えると、この現状に対して何の解決策を見出せないからである。

9 False reasons I’ve heard missionaries and Christians leaders use.
クリスチャン伝道者やリーダー達の謝った９つの理由。

1.Japan is hard
日本は難しい国だから
2.God has hardened their hearts
神様が日本人の心を閉ざしているから
3.Japan has an evil history and culture.
日本は残酷な歴史と文化を持っているから
4.The Japanese are unrepentant for their history.
日本人は自分達の歴史を反省していないから
5.The land is full of ‘darkness’.
この国は闇に包まれているから
6.Everybody says it’s hard so it must be.
みんなが日本は難しいと言っているから
7.Christian literature says it’s hard so it must be.
キリスト系の書物にも難しいと書かれてあるから
8.Japan is a special case- the Word of God doesn’t apply here.
日本は特別なケースで、神様の言葉は日本には適応しないから
9.Pray for revival - let God move here when it is his time to do so.
ただリバイバル（信仰復興）を祈るのみー神様の時があり、その時に神様が働いてくれるから

Note: these reasons say the problem is mainly God or the people. That cannot be true!
If we stay with these false reasons, we will never see things changed!
留意：つまり上記の理由は神様か人々のどちらかが原因となっている。だが、そんなはずはない！もし、私達がこの間違った解釈を持ち続けると、決して変化を見る事はないだろう！

5 Real reasons why there are so few Christians:-
日本にクリスチャンが少ない５つの本当の理由：

1.People are simply not telling them about Jesus..
人々がイエスのことを伝えていない。
2.People don’t think they are open so they don’t tell them.
人々がオープンだと思っていないので、言わない。
3.So few youth are being reached at all.
若者に向けた伝道がほとんどない
4.So few children are reached at all.
子供達に向けた伝道がほとんどない
5.So few churches reaching out in a culturally relevant manner.
ほとんどの教会が文化に合ったやり方で伝道をしていない

The true fault is not with God. Nor is it with the Japanese people. It is the responsibility of the church to simply reach out to Japanese people in meaningful ways.
日本人にクリスチャンが少ない真の理由は神様ではないのだ。そしてまた日本人でもないのだ。それは教会が日本人に本当に意味のあるやり方で伝道していかなければならない、だだそれだけなのである。

In closing …. Let’s give up our flawed way of thinking, and simply start reaching out effectively to these wonderful Japanese young people all around us. I believe we can change Japan in the current generation. Let’s do it together!!!
最後に、間違った考え方を捨てよう、そして周りにいる素晴らしい、日本人の若者達に効率よく伝道していこう。今のこの時代に、日本を変えることができると心から信じている。だから一緒にそれをやっていこう！！！

Young Japanese are ‘Searchers for God’.日本の若者は神様を求めている

We are seeing many Japanese become Christians each week. Many of these new believers say that there was a significant Bible verse that helped them find Jesus.
私達は毎週、多くの日本人の若者がクリスチャンになるのを見ている。その新しい信仰の第一歩を踏み出した若者達の多くはイエスを知るのに鍵となった聖書箇所があったと言っている。

One of these is (Mat 7:7-8) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. (8) For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
そのうちの一つが（マタイ７章７－８節）である。「求めなさい。そうすれば与えられます。捜しなさい。そうすれば見つかります。たたきなさい。そうすれば開かれます。（8）だれであれ、求める者は受け、捜す者は見つけ出し、たたく者には開かれます。」

Another is (Mat 6:33) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well”.
そしてもう一つの聖書箇所は（マタイ 6章33節）。「だから、神の国とその義とをまず第一に求めなさい。そうすれば、それに加えて、これらのものはすべて与えられます。

Young Japanese are searchers. They are highｌy educated. (96% have finished high school and 48% have degrees). They love to learn. When they are shown a Bible for the first time there is real interest. Many non-Christians are in our Life Groups where they can read the Bible and ask questions. Many of these ‘journal’ what God is saying to them from the Bible. When asked, these seekers can clearly say the Bible verses that mean a lot to them at that time!
日本の若者たちは捜し求めている。彼らは高学歴（９６％が高校を卒業し、４８％が大学を卒業している）で、学ぶことが大好きである。だから、多くの人が初めて聖書を見せられると興味を示す。多くのクリスチャンでない人達も聖書を学んだり、気軽に質問ができる私達のライフ・グループに参加しているし、聖書を通して神様から語られたことを書き留める「ジャーナル」もやっている。そして聞いてみると、ジャーナルで語られた聖書の言葉がその時々の自分にとってもしっくり来た言葉だったと話している。

In the 16th Century, Catholic priest Francis Xavier came to Japan after meeting a Japanese sailor in India. The young Japanese man, Anduin, heard about the message of Jesus and said to the priest ‘Japanese are searchers. And they would love to consider this message of Jesus’. When Francis went to Japan around 1548AD, he found a receptive people, especially in Kyushu. Some figures state that up to 20% of Japanese in the next 50 years became Christians. These Christians then went through a shocking persecution for 250 years under the Tokugawa Shoguns.
１６世紀、カトリック教・宣教師のフランシスコ・ザビエルはある日本人の船乗りとインドで出会った事がきっかけで日本にやって来た。アンジロウという名のその日本人の若者はイエスの話を聞いて宣教師にこう言った。「多くの日本人は探し求めています。だからこのイエスの話を聞きたがると思います」そして西暦1548年にフランシスコが来日した時、彼は日本には、特に九州地方ではイエスを受け入れる人が多いことを知った。そして翌５０年間で約２０％の日本人がイエスを受け入れ、クリスチャンになったという記録も残っている。しかし後にこのクリスチャン達は徳川幕府の元で、２５０年間も残酷な迫害を受けることになった。

But the same searching heart for God remains here in Japan. This is awesome because God loves people who have a searching heart.
しかしその神様を探し求める心というのは今日も日本人の心に残っている。非常にすばらしいことである。なぜなら神様は捜し求める心を持つ人々を愛しているからである。

Hey, check out this amazing verse … (Jer 29:11-14a) “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (12) Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. (13) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. (14a ) I will be found by you,” declares the LORD.’
そしてこのすごい聖句もチェックして欲しい。（エレミヤ 29章11－１４節A）「わたしはあなたがたのために立てている計画をよく知っているからだ。・・主の御告げ。・・それはわざわいではなくて、平安を与える計画であり、あなたがたに将来と希望を与えるためのものだ。(12)あなたがたがわたしを呼び求めて歩き、わたしに祈るなら、わたしはあなたがたに聞こう。 (13) もし、あなたがたが心を尽くしてわたしを捜し求めるなら、わたしを見つけるだろう。 (14) わたしはあなたがたに見つけられる。・・主の御告げ。・・

We are meeting many ’searching’ Japanese every week. Something good is happening in Japan.
毎週、私達は多くの「探し求めている」日本人に出会っている。今まさに、日本で何かすごいことが起ころうとしている。

Bi-lingual Church - Necessity or Strategy?　バイリンガルの教会―必要それとも、有効的だから？

Our churches in Tokyo and Osaka are bi-lingual - English and Japanese. Our church in Hong Kong is bi-lingual - English and Cantonese. We also have translation through earphones into Mandarin Chinese.
東京と大阪にある私達の教会では日英バイリンガルで礼拝を、そして香港では英語と広東語でのバイリンガル礼拝を行っている。また、ヘッドセットを使って標準中国語での同時通訳も行っている。

We work easily with cultures and languages. We enjoy it. We make it fun and dynamic. We train translators all the time. We would have about 20 Japanese and 5 foreigners who translate some part of the services in Tokyo. We are able to maintain our focus on reaching and pastoring Japanese, yet have a significant passion for the 30 other nationalities represented in the church.
みんな文化や言語への対応にはとても慣れていて、また心から楽しんでやっている。そしてそれらの要素をより楽しく、そしてダイナミックに礼拝でも取り入れいている。翻訳者や通訳者のトレーニングも常に行っている。東京の礼拝だけでも日本語の通訳者が約２０名、そして外国人も約５名ぐらいの通訳者がいて、礼拝のあらゆる部分において通訳を行っている。私達の目標でる常に日本人への伝道は変わらないが、チャーチにいる30以上もの国籍からなる外国人達への伝道にも情熱を持っている。

When we started Bi-lingual church it was a necessity. Out of our team of 16 in 2002, only 3 spoke Japanese. It was a way to ensure all of our team had a purpose and a valid ministry from their first day in Japan. Very few of our team have done any formal language study, but that didn’t matter in a bi-lingual church.
最初に必要性からバイリンガルでの礼拝を始めた。なにせ２００２年、当時１６名いたチームのうち日本語が話せるのは３名だけだった。初日からチームのみんなが明確で目的とミニストリーの元に活動を行っているという認識を持ち続けるための一つの手段でもあった。最も、チームの中できちんと日本語を勉強をして来た者はほとんどいなかった。だけど、日英バイリンガル礼拝の教会にはあまり問題ではなかった。

Today, we actually do have the option to do a fully Japanese language church in Tokyo. It has grown in every way and we have some amazing Japanese leaders. Yet, the strategy of having a bi-lingual church remains effective …
今日、東京の教会では完全日本語礼拝という方法も可能である。教会のいろんな分野で成長し、たくさんのすばらしい日本人リーダー達もいるからである。しかし、私たちはバイリンガル教会というやり方がとても効率的で効果があると考えている。

For example, many Japanese love other nations, travel, English study etc. Bi-lingual church is a drawcard to many.
例えば、多くの日本人は外国、旅行、そして英語を勉強することなどが大好きだ。だから、バイリンガル教会はたくさんの人にとって、とても魅力がある。

Bi-lingual church also demonstrate the love between Japanese and other cultures. In almost 7 years as a church in Japan, we have never once had a cultural clash. We have had the wonderful experience of different people with different languages and cultures all able to love one-another consistently. Jesus said ‘all people will know you are my disciples by your love for one-another’.
また、バイリンガル教会は日本と他の文化への愛を表現できる場でもある。私達の教会は日本でまもなく７年を迎えるが、一度も文化的な衝突を経験したことがない。それどころか、みんないつも様々な国から来ている人達との交流や、違った言語や文化を楽しんでいる。そしてイエス様もこう言った。「互に愛し合うならば、それによって、あなたがたがわたしの弟子であることを、すべての者が認めるであろう」。

Bi-lingual church is also a great training ground for leadership and success in life. There is such a large pool of strength and wisdom between different languages and cultures and we are able to synergize our strengths easily.
バイリンガル教会はリーダーシップ力をつけ、また人生において成功するためのとてもいいトレーニングの場でもある。異なった言語や文化をにはそれぞれの強みと知恵があり、互いの相乗効果を持ってよりいいものを作り上げていくことができる。

And finally … bi-lingual church is simply good fun. It celebrates our diversity and unity together. We love the church and it is a very happy and special place.
そして何よりも…バイリンガルの教会は楽しいのである。多様性や団結性を喜び合える場所である。みんなこの教会が大好きで、そして特別な場所だと感じている。

‘Bi-lingual church’ would work in many world cities. We have friends doing this in Thailand, Germany, France, Russia. They are having a lot of fun, while at the same time advancing the message of Jesus. I personally have a dream of one day plating many other bi-lingual churches in China, Italy, Spain and India.
「バイリンガル教会」は世界中の都市でも有効的だと思う。私達にはタイ、ドイツ、フランス、そしてロシアでバイリンガル礼拝を行っている友人がいるが、みんなとても楽しんでいるし、またイエス様のメッセーを伝えるという点においても成功している。将来、私個人的には中国、イタリア、スペイン、そしてインドでバイリンガルの教会を持ちたいという夢もある。

Richie - what a great kid!　リッチー　　すばらしい息子よ！

We are so blessed to have Richie. He is a crazy boy that loves God and loves to drum! He wanted to start drumming two years ago and has just got stronger and stronger. Now he is 12 years old and looking forward to seeing all his practice and hard work pay off. Yes …he will soon be playing in the church band. When he grows up, he wants to be a professional drummer …. and there are seeds of greatness there.
息子のリッチーは私達にたくさんの祝福をもたらしてくれている。少しやんちゃだが、神様を愛し、そしてドラムを叩くのが大好きな子供である。リッチーがドラムを始めたいと言い始めたのは2年前になるが、彼のドラムへの情熱は年々強くなっていっている。彼は今１２歳にになるが、彼の練習がどの様な実を結ぶのか、今からとても楽しみにしている。そして、もうすぐチャーチのバンドでも演奏をすることになっているし、将来はプロのドラム演奏者になりたいと話している。将来、素晴らしい実を結ぶ種が今そこにあるのだ。

He also helps in kid’s church as a young leader. He is really caring and helps new kids feel welcomed. He has a great understanding of the Bible, and recently read through the book of revelation on his own. (He had lots of questions which I couldn’t answer too)!
リッチーは今、教会のキッズ・チャーチでも若いリーダーとして奉仕をしている。とても面倒みがよくて新しく来た子供たちをあたたかく迎えるのがとても上手だ。聖書への理解力もある。最近は黙示録を自分ひとりで読み切ったぐらいだ。（そして私でも答えられない質問をたくさん投げかけてきた！）

He has a real love for God’s ways, and a high sense of keeping a right conscience. Our family remembers the trip to Paris in 2007. We enjoyed France, but Paris metro train service was complex and we didn’t speak any French. After trying to buy a train ticket for 30 minutes with a very rude official we couldn’t seem to be able to buy a train ticket at all. We noticed many people jumping over and through the ticket gate and onto the train. In frustration I decided that we too needed to jump the barrier. Monty said ‘cool, let’s do it’ but Richie wouldn’t do it. He thought that was wrong and tried to stop us all from doing it. He was right of course, and we encouraged his sense of right and wrong ….. but we had no choice and jumped the barrier anyway!
彼はいつも神様の道（やり方）を愛し、正義感の強い子供である。２００７年、私たちが家族でパリに旅行に出かけた時のことをよく思い出す。フランスをとても楽しんでいたのだが、パリの地下鉄はとても複雑でその上に誰もフランス語が話せかった。地下鉄のチケットを買おうとした時のこと、３０分以上もかけてチケットを買おうと苦戦していた。とても横柄な役人も手伝ってくれていたのだが、全く助けにならなかった。そうこうしているうちに、他の人達は私達を飛ばし、チケットゲートを飛び越えて次々に電車に乗り込んでいった。そして思わず、私は同じくゲートを飛び越えようと決めた。モンティは「よし、やろう！」っと言ったのだが、リッチーはやりたがらなった。彼はそれは間違っていると言って、私達を止めた。もちろん彼は正しかった、そして私達は彼の良心をとても誉めて励ました。しかし、私達には選択肢がなかったので柵を乗り越えるしかなかった。

Richie is another example of a new generation leader (in training).
リッチーは次世代のリーダーの一人ともいえるだろう。（もちろん今はまだトレーニング中であるが）

Let’s keep sowing into the next generation. Here are a few verses about responsibility to prepare them for God’s plans for their lives
次世代に種を蒔き続けていこう！次世代の彼らが神様の計画に召されるために必要な準備に関する聖書箇所をここでシェアしたいと思う。

(Deuteronomy 7:9) Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.
(申命記 7:9) あなたは知っているのだ。あなたの神、主だけが神であり、誠実な神である。主を愛し、主の命令を守る者には恵みの契約を千代までも守られる。

(Psalm 33:11) But the plans of the LORD stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations.
詩篇 33:11 主のはかりごとはとこしえに立ち、御心の計画は代々に至る。

(Psalm 89:1) will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.
（詩篇 89:1）私は、主の恵みを、とこしえに歌います。あなたの真実を代々限りなく私の口で知らせます。

Monty - a new generation rises up.　　モンティ一人の新しい次世代が立ち上がる

Monty, my oldest son is now 16 and is doing really great. He is playing guitar in the church band and loves it. This desire to play guitar and worship God in music started when he met Joel Houston from Hillsong United band about three years ago after a concert in Tokyo. Joel asked Monty (then aged 13) what he wanted to do. Monty answered ‘I don’t know’. Joel then asked casually but with intent ‘Do you want to play guitar?’ Monty answered ‘I guess so …’ And that was it. A passion for guitar was birthed. The next day Monty told me he wanted to learn guitar.
私の長男のモンティは１６才になるが、とても順調に成長している。彼は教会のミュージック・バンドでギターを演奏しているが、とても楽しんでいる。彼がギター、そしてミュージックを通して神様を賛美することに興味を持ったのは約3年前。東京でのコンサートで来日していたヒルソング・ユナイテッドのジョエル　ヒューストンとの出会いがきっかけだった。ジョエルがモンティ（当時１３才）に何かやりたいことはあるのかと聞いた。モンティは「まだ分からない」と答えた。そしてジョエルは何気なく、だが実は意図的に「ギター弾いてみたい？」と聞き返した。そして、モンティの答えは「そうかもしれない…」。そのやり取りが引金となって彼のギターへの情熱が生まれた。モンティが私にギターを習いたいと話してきたのはその翌日だった。

That was then. Now three years late he is going　strong for God. He loves to do everthing our young team does - journalling, street outreach, Life　Group, set-up team.　I havn’t asked him to do any of this (except to have an authentic personal faith in God), but he loves the church and the opportunity to serve God.
しばらく前のことになってしまったが、3年が過ぎた今、モンティの神様への信仰はさらに強くなっている。彼は私たちの教会のユース・チームがやっていることがどれも大好きだ。ジャーナルをつけること、ストリート・アウトリーチやライフ・グループへの参加、そして礼拝のセット・アップチームなど積極的に参加している。私自身からは一度もこれらのことをやりなさいと話したことはない（ただ神様と個人的な関係をもつこと、信仰を持つこと以外は）。

I don’t know what Monty will end up doing in life…. but I know he is a great‘Next Generation Leader’ in training right now.　And he is a great blessing to Viv and I.
これから先モンティがどの様な人生を歩むかは分からない。だが彼は素晴らしい「次世代のリーダー」として今トレーニングを受けていることだけは確かである。そして彼はビブと私にとってとても大きな祝福をもたらしてくれている。

He is another example of the power of building strong generations. This word is mentioned 160 times in the Bible. We are called to build generationally. Every generation is supposed to get better and better. Let’s build into the next amazing generation of young people.
強い次世代を立ち上げなくてはいけない、彼はその良い例の一つとも言えるだろう。聖書ではその言葉が１６０回も出てきている。私たちは強い次世代を立ち上げる使命がある。そしてどの世代も、前の世代よりさらに良くなっていくべきである。一緒にすばらしい若者の次世代を立ち上げていこう！

(Psalms　71:18) Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come.
(詩篇 71:18) 年老いて、しらがになっていても、神よ、私を捨てないでください。私はなおも、あなたの力を次の世代に、あなたの大能のわざを、後に来るすべての者に告げ知らせます。

(Psalms 78:3-4) what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us.　(4)We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
(詩篇 78:3-4) それは、私たちが聞いて、知っていること、私たちの先祖が語ってくれたこと。 (4)それを私たちは彼らの子孫に隠さず、後の時代に語り告げよう。主への賛美と御力と、主の行なわれた奇しいわざとを。

A Great Team builds a Great Team. 　素晴らしいチームは素晴らしいチームによって立ち上げられていく

We are blessed with a great team in all our churches - Tokyo, Osaka and Hong Kong. Viv and I thank God DAILY for the integrity and giftedness of all our awseome leaders.
東京、大阪そして香港にある私達の教会には素晴らしいチームがいて、とても祝福されている。ビブも私も毎日神様にこの素晴らしいリーダー達の誠実さと、それぞれに与えられた才能に感謝している。

Psalm 127 talks about God building the house. Unless God builds it, it will not grow and it will not last. But if God is at the centre of the building process it will be big and strong.
詩篇１２７章は神様の家を立ち上げることについて書かれている。その家は神様が建てたものでなければ、成長もしないし、そして続かないだろうと。だけど反対にそのプロセスの中にいつも神様がいると、その家は大きくて強いものになる。

Later in the same Psalm it mentions the power of sons, which speaks of the next generation rising up to take on the mission and the heart for the house. God builds generations of leaders that just keep getting better and stronger, more courageous and more passionate for God’s ways and God’s house.
その同じ詩篇の後半部分には息子達の力、すなわち次世代がその家への思いを持ち、そして使命感を持って立ち上がっていく事が書かれてある。神様は次世代のリーダーをより優れた、そしてより強くて勇敢で、神様の計画と家を立ち上げる事により強い情熱を持つリーダーとして立ち上げていく。

We have now 100 cell groups (Lifegroups) that are the building block of our future leaders. Osaka has 23 and Hong Kong 10 with many more on the way. Many of our young leaders will excell in business or in some profession, as well as in the church.
今、私達の教会では１００以上ものセル・グループ（ライフグループ）というものがあり、その中で次世代のリーダー達が育てられている。大阪には２３のライフ・グループが、そして香港には１０のグループがあり、これからもその数は増え続けていくだろう。そして私達の教会の若いリーダー達は教会をはじめ、ビジネスやあらゆる分野で活躍し成功していくだろう。

THe future is bright. May 2009 be our best year ever!
未来は明るい。２００９年が私達にとって最高の年となります様に！

A White Christmas in Japan 日本のホワイト・クリスマス

Are you ‘dreaming of a white Chrsitmas’? Well this year we had one. We spent a few days in Hakuba (where the winter olympics were held once). It was awesome. Once again the beauty of Japan was displayed. Towering alps and snowboarding in God’s winter wonderland …. just awseome!
「ホワイト・クリスマス」を夢見ていますか？私達は今年そのホワイト・クリスマスを体験した。私達は白馬（過去に冬季オリンピックが開催されてた場所）へと出かけて来た。本当にすばらしかった。日本の美しさが現われていた場所だった。アルプスの山々が連なっている神様の冬のワンダーランドでスノーボード。すばらしいとしか言いようがない。

Japan has no public holiday for Christmas (or any other christian festival). It seems strange to see people going to work long 16 hour days on Christmas and Boxing Day. There are santas and christimas trees everywhere, shopping and present giving too ….. but absolutely no understanding that this was a celebration of Jesus’ birthday. Japanese are shocked to find out that Jesus’ birthdate set the world year clock at zero, and ‘2008′ means ‘2008 years after Jesus birth’!
日本にはクリスマスの祝日がない。（その他のクリスチャンのお祭りもそうである）。クリスマスも、その翌日の”Boxing Day”（ボクシング・デー）も、日本では１６時間ぐらい働いている人達がいるのが未だ不思議でならない。サンタクロースやクリスマスツリーなのどの飾りは街中のいたる所にある。そしてショッピングに出かけみんなプレゼントも準備している。でもクリスマスがイエス様の誕生のお祝いだという事を知らない人がほとんどなのだ。だから日本人がイエス様誕生したその瞬間が世界時間のゼロで、そこから時間がカウントしているという事、そしてそして２００８年というのが、イエス様の２００８回目の誕生日だということを知ると、きっと驚きでショックを受けるだろう。

So what is the result of asking Japanese who have never heard of Jesus to come to church for Christmas? The answer is ‘the largest christmas services we’ve ever had in Japan’. Over the christmas week we had about 1,000 in church over 4 services. Among these were about 300 who came to church for the first time in their life!
だから日本でまだイエス様の事を聞いたことのない人達にこのクリスマスに教会にに誘ってみた、その結果はどうだったか？それは「日本で私達がやったクリスマス礼拝でも過去最大の人数が集まる、大盛況のクリスマス礼拝」だった。１週間で４回の礼拝をおこなったのだが、約１０００もの人が礼拝にやって来た。そしてなんとそのうち３００人もの人が生まれて初めて「教会」という場所に来たのだ！

Tokyo Christmas Trees

Osaka church, now 8 months old, had over 100 poeple for the first time. 40 of these also had never been to church before!
私達の大阪の教会はスタートして約８か月だが、初めてとなるクリスマス礼拝には１００人を超える人が訪れた。そしてそのうち４０人が今まで一度も教会という場所に行った事がない人達だった。

So we celebrate Christmas with both christians and non-christians enthusiastically singing and enjoying the festivities. Christmas is fun in Japan!!!
私達はクリスチャンもそしてクリスチャンじゃない人達も一緒に熱く歌ってそしてクリスマスのお祭りをエンジョイした。日本のクリスマスはとても楽しい！！！
