Japan - so few christians! ÆüËÜ-¥¯¥ê¥¹¥Á¥ã¥ó¤¬¾¯¤Ê¤¤¡ª

Japan - has .21% (21 per 10,000 people) christians that attend church. This means that out of 127,000,000 people in the nation, only 266,000 go to church. There are about 7,700 churches in Japan so the average size church on a Sunday is 34 people.

Japans youth - who reach reach out to them?

Japan's youth - who reach reach out to them?

Now … as the overwhelming majority of these christians are over 60 years old, very, very few churches are reaching the next generation at all. Even though Japanese people live to a ripe old age, this means the size of the church in Japan is actually going backwards.

A new way is to mix readily available household cleaners together and form a foul-smelling toxic coctail that kills all those those who inhale the fumes. Whole buildings have to be evacauted when this happens.

People who jump in front of trains also have to pay a huge fine, because they have to stop the trains for about 30 minutes. This fine could easily be $50,000. Of course it’s the family who pays, along with the exorbitant Buddhist funeral expenses of another $50,000 of more.

Think about the fact that 100,000 youth will pass by you in an hour and almost none of them have ever heard about Jesus. Almost none of them have a christian friend . They have never seen a Bible and have never heard the word Easter. Wow - what a huge challenge.

These have been young Australians who gave up one year to serve the Lord in Japan. They raised their own budget for airfares and setup costs. They worked teaching English in Japan part time, and then do ministry in the remaining time. They spent time with young Japanese at universities, coffee shops, and in cell groups. They are incredibly tenacious and ‘genki’ (the Japanese word for energetic, happy and lively!)
